Autobiographical Memory

Basic Characteristics

  • Description

Autibiographical memory is a personal representation of events (general or specific) and personal facts. Essentially, autobiorgaphical memory is one's memory of their own history. We do not remember everything in our past. Memory is constructive. Our previous expereinces affect how we remeber and what we end up recalling from memory. Our memories are constructed ad reconstructed as our past history. Autobiographical memory is considered fairly reliable although we must be careful with distortions.
